FROM THE CLASS OF '51 - John (Jack) L. Hecker
Jack was a superior athlete in four sports: football, basketball, baseball, and track. He was an outstanding first baseman and an end on the football on the football team. He was team captain, MVP, All-West County, All-Scholastic, and All-Ohio in both football and basketball. He also qualified for the State track meet in the discus. He attended Bowlingt Green on a basketball scholarship, where he won twelve letters and was the last athlete there to have lettered in three sports: footbal, basketball, and track. He was captain of the 1955 football team, All-American, and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns the next year. After a successful coaching career at the high school level and the collegiate level (The University of Toledo and Miami of Ohio), Jack has been a member of the Army coaching staff for the past 13-years. He is presently Director of Football Operations for the Army at West Point where he lives with his wife. They have two sons.
