Betty and Fred Jones attended their first Boosters’ Club meeting in 1969 and volunteered to run the concession stand with the help of Ruth Hall. For the next three years they had a popcorn machine in their basement, where every Thursday evening they popped corn for football and basketball home games. With wise purchases of supplies, candy, and in the future “already popped” corn, the concession stand started to make money for the Boosters Athletic Club. Fred served on the committee for the building of the present football stadium; his specialty was the speaker system and the electrical work. With many volunteers, this was truly a community project. Both Betty and Fred also helped raise money for the stadium through numerous fundraising events. Betty was the first female president of the Boosters’ Club in 1976, and initiated the summer basketball and wrestling programs. Betty and Fred have long been faithful supporters of Olmsted Falls athletes through the years – contributing their time, their talents, and their endless enthusiasm. Fred died in 1998, but Betty continues to attend volleyball, football, and basketball games, wearing her “cheerleaders” shirt and leading spectators in Bulldog cheers.
