DAN MARTIN, ’81, played basketball and high jumped on the track team.  Dan broke the OFHS school record in his sophomore year with a jump of 6’2”.  In his junior year he won the SWC conference meet, sectionals, districts and was the State champion, jumping 6’8”.  He set meet records in sectionals, districts and the SWC meets.  In Dan’s senior year, he again won the SWC meet, sectionals and districts, setting meet records in all.  He finished fifth in the State of Ohio.  Dan left high school setting the school record at 6’10 ½ ’’ and received numerous honors over his high school career, including All Sun-West first team, Plain Dealer First Team, and All American status.  He went on to the University of Akron, where he was a two-time team MVP and remains the school record holder with a jump of 7’1/4”.  Dan currently resides in Strongsville with his wife and three daughters.
