Jim Atkins, ’94, was a two-sport leader and standout in the mid-90’s, participating in both wrestling and football. He captained both squads and won MVP honors in both. Jim was a 4-year letterman in wrestling, a two-time State qualifier, placing 4th in Ohio in 1994 at 171 pounds. He was also a two-time SWC Champion and three-time Sectional Champion, and was selected as a West-Cleveland All-Star. He was a team leader of the ’94 squad that placed 9th in Ohio, and he was the first wrestler in school history to reach 100 wins, as he finished his brilliant career at 103-38. Jim was equally talented on the gridiron as a two-way starter and three-year letterman. He was a very instinctive and aggressive linebacker as he was named 2nd team All-Ohio in 1993, 1st team SWC in 1993, and was selected to the East-West All-Star game that year as well as the All-Sun Team. Jim is employed by Office Max and lives in Avon, Ohio, with his wife Melissa and their three children.
