PAULA GOOD MATTEI, ’84, lettered for three years on the OFHS varsity basketball team. As Captain and co-MVP her senior year, she led the team in points, steals, and assists. She was also named to the Cleveland Plain Dealer Dream Team and to the 2nd Team All-Conference. In her only year running cross country, Paula earned All Conference honors and her 19:26 personal best set a new senior record. As a 4-year varsity track athlete, her 725 total points made her one of the leading scorers of all time. She was a school record holder in the 200 meters, 1-mile relay, and 2-mile relay. Her record setting 58.8 in the 400 meters and 800 meter split of 2:15 still stand today after 23 years! A 3-time State qualifier, Paula anchored the State Champion and record-breaking two-mile relay team in 1983. Paula continued her running career at the University of Akron as a 4-year varsity Track and Cross Country athlete. Paula and her husband Tony live in North Carolina with their two children, Matthew and Michael.
