JIM BURNS, COACH, enjoyed a 32-year career of teaching and coaching at Olmsted Falls High School where he also served as OFTA President. He was the Head Coach of both the boys’ golf and tennis teams and also coached football and basketball. Both his tennis doubles team (5 times) and singles team (3 times) qualified for district play. His golf team qualified five times to district play and seven times for individual play. He coached three Southwest Conference medallists and one sectional medallist in boys’ golf. His other coaching achievements included officiating for both football and basketball, advising ice hockey, and serving as a State sectional wrestling tournament manager. Jim attended Lock Haven College, where he lettered for three years in football and track and set the NCAA record for the longest return of an intercepted pass. He earned a master’s degree from Akron University and served in the US Army Reserves for eight years. Jim and his wife Dixie have three children and have resided in Olmsted Falls for 40 years.
